Episode 4 – Why Fixing What Ails You Is Like Losing 100 Pounds?

Losing 100 pounds is simply a metaphor for getting fit, correcting what’s wrong and making our businesses more remarkable.

It’s a tall order. No small feat.

Getting fit – fixing what ails us – has some stringent requirements.

It takes hard work and lots of it.

It requires lifestyle changes. We simply can’t continue doing what we’ve always done and expect our fitness to improve. Wishful thinking won’t accomplish it. We must change our behavior.

Fitness is both important and urgent. They’re not the same.

Losing weight and getting fit can add years to our life. Proven fact.

Not only can we live longer if we’re more fit, but the quality of our life can be drastically improved. For example, I know men who had to take medicine to lower their blood pressure. But, after improving their fitness those meds were no longer necessary. Quality of life is impacted by our level of fitness.

The biggest hurdle of all though is managing that space in our head. Yes, Virginia – it’s mental. How we think affects our actions and our behavior.

Think of the two steps in the process. There’s that step of beginning – the moment we make up our mind that we’re going to take some positive action toward fixing what ails us. There’s then the step we take as we get on the scales to discover that we are now more fit and 100 pounds lighter. What a terrific moment!

Oh, yeah. I also tell you why I’m a loyal customer of Discount Tire. Independently owned retailers can certainly learn some things from them. That’s just an added bonus in today’s show.

Thanks for listening.
